Re: And so the fun begins
As things have gone ever so slowly as funds dictate, the end is in sight with just cosmetics that need to be done, but this is how my my project now looks, funny how some things workout along the way and some dont, been a real hoot and colour scheme still for deciding but swing arm and engine brace will be polished, need to come up with an under tray of sorts. tail light has integrated winkers, no headlight so daytime MOT required. all the bits of frame that arent needed are yet to come off. if the powers that be dont like or the bike runs crap with the open arrangement i have the end cans to go on but not overly keen, straight thru sounds awesome. have ditched the airbox for some cones and crank breather is via a cone too.
it has a 520 conversion, and getting the front sprocket made up has been an interesting experience so i hope the 16 - 40 does the job - has a 10mm front offset but reckon 9mm would be accurate.
have had to cut and bend right hand side exhaust to get a matching look and in full ness of time would be looking at have it done properly, with maybe a shot gun arrangement on each side.have had to bend side stand and cut the foot print up a bit just to get to gear lever and have it sit under exhaust nicely. have provisioned for but not yet installed a speedo, cos in my world its on or off so need to know for the 30 zones.
and the purple brake pot lid is going... any where but on the bike
and the front fairing mounting bolt position needs looking at as its a bit pissed
all in i've had some proper ebay bargains , but as i cant weld or machine stuff some bit have been a bit heavy on the wallet
and some race scrubs to make me look like a hero!!!!

Re: And so the fun begins
we got a bit of a mad rush going on at the moment, will get some pics up when i can as last attempt failed miserably for some reason?, now have a painted frame (satin black - nice and neutral) with polished bits attached and wheels on. tank and plastics have been sprayed (you gonna have to wait for pics - all one colour - sparkly tarts hand bag sorta thing- hahaha).. engine is in along with carbs... at least i have a rolling frame , cos me n her indoors is moving on . would love to get it finished before this, but i cant see it happening.
So are there any welsh boys on here anywhere near Neath? As you gonna have to show us some roads, i'll buy the tea and bacon butties. Barring being gazumped and the seller pulling out me and the mrs are off to Wales (hopefully no one will decide to take a shit down the access alley to back gate as they did here) and this is supposed to be a nice place to live ... my effin arse is it!!
RANT ...... my effin dog ate a bloody cushion .. not just a piece of it ..the entire effin thing.... feathers included... he's not (mans) my best friend anymore .. bastard .. i liked that cushion!... has now been extracted surgically from his stomach ... currently waiting the bill to plonk on the doormat
anyway back on track, had to buy a different radiator as the one i had sort of fell apart when i tried to take the fan off for cleaning ... seems the mounting points were made of putty and am sure yamaha didnt do this! An under tray has been made, what an experience working with fibreglass, but at least i got something to hang the number plate from now which through out the entire dry build i had over looked.
onwards and upwards

Re: And so the fun begins
ok ... so who's bored with xmas and just wants some bike porn?
gotta remember its not complete or finished so comments on wonky exhaust or the modern interpretation of a key will be struck from the record as both need some further input
all other comments on poor workmanship and taste welcome though ... happy new year boys n girls

Re: And so the fun begins
well its been a while, and ive moved. things havent got too much further along with the bike as funds needed elsewhere.
Anyways i have gotten far enough to take her for an mot .......and i now have a day time mot.
Absolutely nuts that the only requirement is a horn but there you go.
As bike is an unknown quantity handling wise i didnt go too mad. Gotta say though am mighty impressed with her ability in the twisties.the rear feels solid and planted, havent pushed the front yet but feels like a positive steer(not vague and doesnt fall off side into corners) aprilia rear brake is shite though. the gearing is there or there abouts so i wont play with that for a while. she needs a good bit of dyno time as she bogs down abit. fingers crossed for some sun this weekend and its play time on the brecons
