Re: Cafe racer rebuild and restoration.
Hi everyone, I am putting the FCR 41 together and noticed they come with 145, 150, 155 main jets.
I'm running standard headers, no airbox.
Should I leave the 150's in or go to 145's.
Any educated guesses?

To ask another silly question, I guess I fit the blue velocity stacks if using the foam filter?

Re: Cafe racer rebuild and restoration.
nope, just drop the tools a bit more often.
I've had a good 6 week rest, time to get stuck in to it.

Thought I'd add this as a bit of a comparision Neil to show the extent of your work.
Much the same colour scheme but gives a stock TRX to compare to.
The std TRX has a real vintage look to it compared to your inspiration.

Re: Cafe racer rebuild and restoration.
Thanks Brian, good idea !
The TRX had classic 90's yamaha styling
need a radiator ?...
Question, you have the aluminium bell mouths on your fcrs, are you running an airbox?

Re: Cafe racer rebuild and restoration.
Yes I feel with the black motor it gives the trx a bit more of a vintage feel.
No airbox but I made up an alloy heat tray that sits on top of the rubber manifolds to minimise heat radiating off the motor so the carbies and air intakes are drawing on cooler air channeled in from under the front of the tank.
Have a look at my rebuild thread to get an idea on what I mean.
Bit of a challenge to get the colour balance right but that's half the fun exploring ideas.
I just cut a couple of thin strips of alfoil to place on the fins of the head to see how it scrubs up and it breaks the black mass of the motor and lines up nicely with the exhaust.
Next is to colour the Yamaha stamped into the clutch case with a silver or chrome sharpie to see if I'll go down that path. I'll take a few photos when the suns out tomorrow and post them in the colour scheme thread.

Re: Cafe racer rebuild and restoration.
pretty much exact same length surprisingly.
I now have an 10mm 530 offset sprocket for the bike and will put a chain on today or tomorrow.
Radiator is done and tubed, just finishing off mounting the fuel pump - what a pain in the ass that thing is ! $%^&*
Start rewiring it on the weekend and next week it goes in for exhaust pipes.
