Engine protectors for a TRX
Has anyone got a link to a manufacturer of engine case protectors to suit the TRX. I'm in the process of building a race bike out of my Trixxie and need engine protectors and I am currently trying to make some up from aluminium, but they look very agricultural. Would prefer some nice neat CF covers.

Re: Engine protectors for a TRX
The trackbike I had bought off Kev had a small tongue type case cover that was simply shaped to the outer shape of the alt case. It was held inplace by one of the case bolts but looked simple, neat and easy to make. I'm sure it was only about 40mm wide and z - ish type shaped.
I also got some LH case protection he made up that consists what look like a skateboard wheel with a shaped edge to fit in with the case.
Rod has fitted the same to his bike as well as the oggy type knobs Kev put together.
They bolt into the frame like a handlebar weight system and are of a softer rubber than the hard plastic oggy's.
The trackbike has aa nice neat crease in the frame from where an oggy knob was fitted and when it went down, the hard plastic pushed into the frame and creased it. Thats why he produced his own softer variety that gave a little but still worked effectively for the purpose intended.
I have an idea he said the knob was a cylindrical wheel off gym equipment.
I dont have access to them at present as they are still in the cupboard at Rods place.

Re: Engine protectors for a TRX
Yeah, the problem is that for racing it requires that "any" engine casing that contains oil must be fully protected from possible contact with the track surface in a fall. GB racing make some excellent CF covers but not for anything older than R1/R6. So I have started to make some out of alloy. The RH one doesn't look so bad, made out of 1.6mm alloy checker plate and as it really only needs to cover the oil pump area it's quite unobtrusive. The alternator cover however is another question. Because of the high likelihood that it will be damaged in a fall I have started to make a cover out of thicker alloy and it just looks like something off an old Ferguson tractor. Hopefully it will finish up alright and a coat of silver paint will make it look OK. I am however looking into whether I can modify an existing GB cover from another model to fit instead. Will keep you posted.
