Hello again!

wonder if anyone can help / give ideas to get my TRX a bit more confortable....
She has an HarrisP race unit seat, which means that I can´t get the standard seat in there....

it´s like this:

as you can see, the bike came with just a bit of foam, but the previous owner has put another 2 layers of foam to make it a bit more confortable...but they just don´t look good anymore and if it´s raining it gets all soaked..

Any ideas of what I can do here to improve confort?

Drink more beer and wear nappies! :lol:

Seriously though, the race version is great for... racing. But the one that uses the standard saddle is much better for street use and not bad on the track either, especially in an endurance race!

prolly advisable to bang a stock back on there.. Means you also get the pillion seat / glove box back..

Is it just me, or does that look like honkys' old bike ? i think ive seen it before somewhere on my usual "find trx stuff" adventures..

To avoid repainting costs etc, why not simply take a dremmel to seat unit and cut away the hole and fit a standard seat. You would have to rig some sort of seat release but it should work ok.

Or, you could stop moaning :wink: - I've got one with just a single layer of foam and have ridden it on the road without being that uncomfotable

I've never had one or even tried one myself so could be talking complete rubbish but .... what about one of those gel pad thingies that are advertised in the accessory magazines. Would that be any good? (Or you could always go the way of our Aussie cousins and chuck a dead sheep at it! :D )

OUCH!!! :lol:

I was thinking of the gel thing too, but it still wouldn't be as comfortable as a stock seat or a dead sheep.

As for cutting it, with out the lip that goes around the inside of the stock seat pan you'd probably end up with a flimsy ugly mess (lack of rigidity for the sides and a gap).

thanks for the ideas....

she´s not that unconfortable but I do a few (a lot) bike rallies throughout the year and on my thundercat I can ride for 4h without stoping, except petrol... I will probably be using the thundercat for the major part of rallies as it´s perfect to take tent and all the stuff...not sure if i could do the same with the TRX...but would like to take her on longer rides....

I think the only way to go here is to glue more bits of foam in there...or modify an original seat, but then the problem would be how to hold it in place, probably glued wouldn´t be enough.....

Personally I don't find the standard seat particularly good anyway.

It's definately not Thundercat comfortable. Though it's fine for blast's down the twisties, it's not really a touring seat.

yeah, of course not for touring, but some of my "blasts down the twisties" can take 4 hours or more.... lol

Don't think I could fit the goldwing on the trx seat space, also not too sure how it would improve confort either... lol

anyway, I should have a normal rear unit in a week or something...
And I took the TRX for a blast last Sunday that took me about 2h each way and wasn't too bad...
problem is I'm not fat and therefore I don't have a massive rear end that will help to absorb the impacts...lol

I actually have sheepskin on the standard seats; something I used to laugh at when I rode thinly disguised racing bikes on the road.
How time changes you opinion of what is and isn't acceptable :)

Beleive it or not I get a sore butt when riding the FJR on a 4-600 k ride. So when I am going on a long ride like that I have a dead sheep option and it does make a big difference. Some are better than others thou. One that is dence with finer wool. Get a Black face or merino skin or something with about 25-30 micron, that will do it but not an absolute prerequisite. :lol:
