Re: The TRX900 Project kicks off
I won't be carrying passengers on this bike so it's not an issue.
I hav the 5sl gear to do the job so for now I use that. I may change it if I like the character of the bike.
Been looking at the fuel tank tonight - yes two dys in a row I must be serious!
Going to chop the bottom out of it to fit the Tom 900 fuel pup and level sender. That will be one more job ticked off. Inside of my tank seems fairly rusty, going to need to treat it I think.

Starting to make a bit more progress again.
Bought this setup from ebay, now its going to be used in anger on the track:

I have also setup a build thread on Trello.com - dont suppose any of your have used this before? its a great site.
here's the link to it. Its just starting but there will be lots of updates coming.
https://trello.com/b/LlZj14dh
here's a link to my dads sprint 1050 track bike project:
https://trello.com/b/ISXS763I
And finally my Dad in law's TRX 878 'already been a track bike' restoration project
https://trello.com/b/3ojlpfEM
those boards should allow public viewing, I will post updates regularly now, that I am on a mission to get this running before christmas!

Ah balls. Back to standard updates!
R1 front end installed, with engineering assistance from Layla and Projection Components:

I offered the tdm900 exhaust up just to see how it fits with how TRX frame:

All seems to fit fine, angles for the pipes are decent.
Got to finish the mounting brackets or the rear subframe next, then I can start in the wiring loom and get it fired up!

Re: The TRX900 Project kicks off
Yes very slowly.
see what happens in about 4 weeks though - the missus is heading to Australia with my mam and the bairn to see my sister over there - gives me 2 weeks of solid graft!!!
I aim to have the bike running and pretty much roadworthy by then.

Re: The TRX900 Project kicks off
small update:
Fuel tank is a big job for the project, I need to fit the TDM900 in tank fuel injection pump into it.
so far so good:
Cut the bottom out

made a plate to fit the sender, trimmed to shape, currently ready to weld in place

Slowly making progress. Spent most of the weekend working on my dad's triumph sprint race bike project, will get more done on mine this week.

Re: The TRX900 Project kicks off
good news is the tank is petrol tight! just needs painting now. another job done.
Spent a few hours making the rear subframe. My requirements were to raise the seat height up somewhat, to compensate for my chunky legs and dodgy knee.
I'm interested to see what everyone thinks:

the hammer is just a counterweight

Re: The TRX900 Project kicks off
i love what you did with the tank and the clock look top notch. Great thread. Agree with dandywarhol though the tail might be a bit too kicked up
The angle is good, in that it follows the pipes but would it be possible to liver the whole tail and keep it at the same angle? if you know what i mean
