The 1995 YZF600 isn't a Thundercat, it's called the FZR600R over here. They'll fit the TRX yokes, the top yokes are identical and the front wheels, discs and front calipers are the same too. They have a slightly different fork leg where the caliper bolts on. Will they still be OK to do the TRX -YZF swap? Don't want to go spend the hard earned if they are going to be a hassle.

Are the FZR cartridge type forks?Kayla wrote:The 1995 YZF600 isn't a Thundercat, it's called the FZR600R over here. Re: Compatible Forks
Just had a look at the parts fiche
http://www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-yzf600rg-19 ... ml#results
looks like it is a damper rod. So that will not be an improvement over the stock forks

Re: Compatible Forks
The YZF750 fork swap is relatively little work, just swapping the steering stem but you need to get the brakes, clip-ons, mudguard and wheel to keep it simple. Also these are pretty thin on the ground.
In my view the best option is to go the R! for route as while the install is a little difficult parts are easier to come by and most likely cheaper. The end result is probably better too as only later YZF750 forks have rebound and compression adjustment all the R1 forks have them
Lots of information on the swap on the forum just use the search function

Re: Compatible Forks
A few months ago I swapped to a entire GSXR600 '04 front end. It was really easy, didn't even have to change steering stems. I just pushed the GSXR stem 6 mm higher in the bottom yoke, then bought a set of special bearings from All Ballz racing (The bearing have the right ID's for the GSXR stem and the right ODs for the TRX housings). See drawing at below link for a bit of clarity. TRX front-end is shown in phantom.

Re: Compatible Forks
Later FZR600R forks are cartridge type forks, basically the same as the Thundercat inside. Blue spots will fit on these forks. The ones in the picture look to have a compression damping adjuster at the bottom of the fork leg, just underneath the caliper mount (although the earlier forks had it cast in it was blanked off). The rebound adjuster is at the top, inside (concentric with) the preload adjuster.
These forks, if you can find them, will fit straight into a TRX with no mods or spacers needed. You will need the mudguard though.

You will also need the yzf600/fzr600 axle. I have just fitted them to my trx850.

Re: Compatible Forks
No spacers required, you just need the fork legs, guard and axel.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
