looks like i may have to send mine back ,,it will not switch to high beam ,,the two wires that go to the electro magnet on the back of the bulb are giving 3v ,there is continuity at the electro magnet so its not that , i think its not getting enough volts to it ,,very bright though ,,

Bummer, I know the feeling of returning, waiting and then hoping that it will be o.k. with the new one :|

And indeed, as said, VERY bright :D

as far as im concerned hid xennons should be standard onever vehicle!!!

god there so much better than normal fillament bulbs!

Ive had them on almost all of my bikes

only problem is due to styling and good lookes ove good headlighs on modern cars/bikes alot of them now the rear refletor casts the beam pattern not the front glass/plastic thingy which is just a clear peice of plastic and there the ones that cant be used with hid's basicaly cos fillament bulbs have a black coating on the end to stop light comeing out the end, and hid's dont , so basically blind other drivers

ive got one on my trx , but thats got a totally different front end (triumph 675) thats got H7 bulbs in projector lights so there shit hot with hid's , projector lights are the best to use with hid's
Booo
AHAHAH

@ number8

I share your opinion, I'm not fond of vehicles with blinding lights behind me or coming straight at me.
So for my REX I've adjusted the light a bit down to the road, because the rays of light from the HID still give enough visibility in this situation IMHO

Hi Steve...

If you've got enough current to fire the ballast there shouldn't be any issue at all at the 'solenoid' plug! Have you tried unplugging the little plug when the light's on - I'm guessing that if there's current all the time to the electromagnet then it won't switch, so maybe there's a wiring issue. Again - I'm guessing that the no current state would put it on dip beam - what beam are you stuck on?

hi Greg,,, when i put the meter on the bit that works the solenoid ,,the connector , i only get 0.7 of a volt ,then as i switch it to dip or main beam it momentarilly jumps in voltage to about 3 volts then drops back to 0.7 volts so what happens is that nether end of the solenoid is energized so as the bike runs the bulb can slide to any end ,which is usually high beam ,,,i personally feel its the control box that's faulty,, the solenoid has continuity in the wiring so its not the bulb , theres just not enough volts to energize the solenoid,,, the control box is potted so i cant test any part of it ,,is yours working ok ??

Hi Steve ..

Yes, mine's fine - I'm sorry but I can't get to the wiring on the Beemer without taking half an acre of plastic off first...

I do have a twin relay harness that I got as part of the kit waiting to be fitted to my VW - you're more than welcome to borrow it to try with your kit.. let me know soonish though as I'm off for a couple of weeks from Friday..

Cheers

Exactly! That's why I have this

The HID kit just came in today. The components are so tiny! I've also HID in the car, but those are huge.

spot on, and a perfect fit for the trx :D

oh and the new "ultra slim" ballasts are tiny compared the older original ones , just got a set for my vfr

oh and a comment about the telescopic H4 bulbs , the ones that move back and forth, if u compare the position of the filament of a stock h4 bulb to these there not exactly in the same place on either dip or main beam , so it may bugger up ya beam pattern , be careful they dont always work !!

H4 always was a compromise and built to a price when there were released , why do ya think alot of manufacturers are moving away from them

Tarty...

That light unit - one reflector and one projector? What's it from? I've got a twin projector unit from a 400 I think, but am buggered if I'm spending almost £40.00 on two bulbs for it ...

Cheers

FZR600 indeed. Main light is a H1 bulb with projector, high beam is H3. I think I will fit philips bluevision for high beam.
A FZR400RR/SP headlight would be great, but those are hard to find!
