Thats neat.
I wonder if it would be possible to get the carrier to stay put to make wheel changing easier?
I suppose not as making the links rigid would affect suspension movement.

That does look smart Kayla. Far less bulky than the original.

I assume the carrier could be machined for the larger OD YZF spindle (I have a 5.5" rim)?

Will the original torque arm still do the job; looks as though you have made a replacement in the pic.

Maybe PM me with cost for the (YZF modified) carrier and a disc please?

Thanks

The torque arm is attached to the swingarm, not the frame, so the suspension movement wouldn't be affected. I've looked at making the caliper hanger captive and it can be done but you'd need to modify the inside of the swingarm or the spindle slot on the right side to do it. There's a bit of work in it. It'd be easier (and was done as standard on the 3TJ SP) to do on a later 400 swingarm because the spindle slot is actually larger than the spindle diameter, the spindle is held central by tapered adjuster blocks.

Surely you can drill some holes in that torque arm & carrier?

I considering using a cardboard cutout of a caliper on mine, would work just as well given the amount of time I have used the rear brake so far

I've set about a TRX sprocket carrier today (well, it's from an FZR600R but the parts are the same) and a standard one with all the steel gubbins (bearing spacer, studs, lock nuts and steel sprocket) came in at a massive 2484g  The standard TRX sprocket is slightly smaller so there may be a few hundred grammes difference but it's still a lot to cart about. Not so bad on a road bike with all the lights and stuff still fitted but when you're down to chasing the last few kilos on a track bike and considering whether or not to have that extra onion bhaji, it all adds up!

I'm going to change the studs and lock nuts to Ti and make a spacer from ally, and with a 520 Renthal sprocket, should hopefully get the mass down to around 1500g.

A quick update for anyone interested-

The sprocket carrier now weighs 1370g with Ti studs, ally spacer and ally 47t sprocket. The 210mm, 3mm thick disc weighs 270g (the standard disc weighs over a kilogram!) :D

No worries, I'll need the disc bolt pattern for your R6 wheel though. It'll be easier to explain the next time you want a cuppa :D

No pics yet, but the disc and caliper hanger are similar to the one I posted earlier in the thread.
