The digital clock is a Cateye Astradale 8 or somethin.. Got new on ebay for next to nothing.. Cateye claims it does 299km/h digital read out.. I can attest to it up to 160km/h. So i guess its fairly true.

I put the magnetic pickup in one of the studs that connects the disk to the inner.. and hit the sensor wire inside the fork leg behind the mudguard.. works fine.

Yes i made the dash aswell.. Im gonna put a custom temp gauge in there at some point. but yer.. not much time since i got me a new house + baby.. Yard needs some work.

just ordered the VAPOR unit from trailtech will let you all know how i get on with it when it arrives and i install it went for the dash with idiot lights for it aswell

Hi people.I,m just getting a respray an sorting out so much stuff to get the bike prettied up but I also want a new speedo.These bikes are cable drive speedos right(pardon my retardedness).If i order a new speedo with indicators and temp /rev counter etc what do i best go for and what mounts do i need for the bike.The bike will be streetfightered when finished so no front plastics .Speedo will need mounted off headlight or handlebars.Any help greatly appreciated.

There`s possibly as many as twenty around nowadays that you could use, type in elecrtronic speedometer on Ebay and see what you get?
The pick-ups are usually quite small and can often be secreted in disc rotor bobbins or the heads of the fixing bolts with a little araldite or similar.The `other` magnet/pick-up is simply fixed to the fork leg and mostly secured with cable ties or for a neater look by aluminium strapping similar to that which can often be seen on coolant hoses.
Most are very simple to wire in and many feature all kinds of features, most likely never to be used.

No, you just buy the 'generic conventional fork' kit. One of the brake disc bolts is replaced by a bolt with a magnet in it so it all looks quite neat and tidy. Good luck getting the tacho to do anything useful I use mine as a speedo and, well, that's it. It's good for telling the time too.

re the Vapor speed sensor magnet mounting, I araldited a tiny magnet to the wheel rim and then fitted the sensor to the mudguard fixings, routing the none too flexible cable with the brake cable. Will take some pics if you need them. I agree with Kayla the rev counter is rubbish and the gear change and redline indicators seem to go off whenever they want. The indicator repeater and neutral bulbs are a bit dim, you may want to replace them with Leds. When I turn on the ignition the Vapor switches on every available LCD digit but hitting the mode button cures this. If you buy the option with the temerature sensor and do not want to cut the radiator pipes to introduce it (by the way the supplied tube is too small diameter) you can remove the sensor from the supplied tube and screw it into the hole the normal temperature sensor fits in. Not sure that the thread is the exactly the same, but mine went in and did not leak. The sensors are not the same electrically so you will need to replace the standard one. Let me know if you want pictures.

I used one of the clamps supplied in the vapor kit and mounted it on the headlight/fairing frame. Used a bit of rubber to shim it up. I tried a few different feeds for the tacho and ended up getting a good result with only the occasional spike. Didn't bother with the temp guage.
