CHAIN & SPROCKETS
So I need to replace me chain and sprockets on the TRX and i'm running the YZF back wheel and what i can tell so far the TRX sprocket IS different.
What I really want to know is should I stay with the same tooth count or change it up a little what works best for you guys?

there is a twist though, he has asked about changing the standard gearing which has been asked but the unusual part is the fact that it is a YZF wheel.
Monaro, I have the TRX standard size rear sprocket on the YZF750 wheel, just flipped around. To the best of my knowledge the only necessary change when you go to a YZF750 swing-arm and wheel is to flip the rear sprocket over.
I like the standard gearing on the TRX, but some people prefer to go up a couple of teeth on the rear for city riding
out of town i think the stock gearing is great

That's all I did, flip it over and it was perfectly'ish in line. 17/43, pulls nicely and good at slow speeds.

I first tried 17/43 with an 878 kit, Akra and FCR's but it revs so damn fast that I was in the red a lot of the time.
Dropped to 40 rear this weekend and it's not much different! Still pulls very fast into the red.
Havn't tried it but a stock motor on the road would probably suit 17/43 as Yoozy said.
I machined a little from the YZF bracing on the lhs to get correct chain alignment ( Renthal 520 sprocket, not Yamaha 525). Also turned down sprocket carrier face by a couple of mm.

I've got the 530 humungous c/s set, and it was almost made for it. I got a new rear sproc with the yzf so bought a new chain and front to match. Gotta have a gold chain though, ohh yeahh

As has been said, use the standard sprocket with the dished/recessed outside, flip it so the recess is inside and it should move it in enough for the chain to line up and still miss the tyre, providing your wheel spacers are correct.

Isnt the yzf wheel and tyre combo, being a 180, a bigger diameter, so standard TRX rear sprocket gearing will be lower gearing if fitted to a YZF wheel and tyre?? Cant remember, and cba to check it...
