Below is a photo from one of the OEM Yamaha grade 2 carbon steel engine case bolts from the bottom engine pan. Once the work was done, and tightening up to 10Nm I could feel the bolt stretching so I removed it straight away and just in time.
Hardened steel and even stainless has a tendency not to yield as much and just snap or gall the thread to cause more problems.

yes I would tend to agree for thinks like your sump plugs, mounting bolts, caliper bolts etc, but for you standard cap screws for the clutch etc stainless is great for its properties

A screw is conical,a bolt is not,its a common misuse of a word

And a setscrew is threaded all the way whereas a bolt has a plain portion before the thread

A screw is only conical if we are talking woodwork, self tappers or diy. Here we are talking engineering where a screw is threaded all the way to the head, (a set or grub screw is headless) and a bolt is threaded for part of the shaft and plain up to the had.
