It started
Following receipt of ported head and Kent cams, new piston rings and cam chain, I am happy to report that it all went back in the right order and position as I started the engine last night!
Body work to go on and a shakedown run followed by some dyno testing to get settings spot on
Any advice on running in new rings?

Re: It started
First 20 minutes is crucial .
That's why I plan on putting the bike on a trailer and going to base of Mt Glorious and running it in up the mountain.
Not much traffic, plenty of opportunity to load it up without reving it to high and easily keep it over 2500rpm to keep plenty of oil coverage over the cams. Another thing to be aware of as would have been advised from Kent cams.
Last thing you want is to be stuck in traffic.
You need to place the bike under some load to get the rings to bite and bed into the bores ..
Glad to hear your up and running..
Enjoy..

Re: It started
Gave it a very quick run tonight, it all seemed good, nothing was leaking or knocking! I shall take it into work tomorrow on the back roads of Warwickshire to Coventry. Hopefully all will be well

Like Cobba says, you've got to load up the engine to get the rings to bed in. It's all over and done in the first 50ks or so. On the throttle - wide open, then back off. Repeat. Don't rev the shit out of it or be really brutal, just load the engine, both acceleration and deceleration.
Ride Well!
Cheers, Dave.

Such a good feeling when it goes back together and runs sweet hey!
Another point not mentioned on this tread yet; do an oil and filter change after first 40km, rather than leave for 1000kms.

Yes ditto Brett.
I'll be starting the bike and get oil flowing through it then doing a change straight away just to flush things clean , then another after my first hr or two of riding.

Rode to work yesterday and it pulls very hard. would be interesting to get it all set up properly on the dyno and see what power is being pumped out!
