Whats the best or easiest mod/upgarde?
I've recently purchased a TRX and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions (for a none mechanically minded person) on what the best mods/upgrades are i.e. Go for certain tyres, suspension set up or mods, cans is an obvious one, engine mods, change of screen for tall riders, rear jack up kits, air box mods, R1 blue spot brakes etc.I have already done a forum search but can't really filter out the easy and difficult mods. I'm not looking to do anything too drastically structurally different to the bike such as change swing arms or forks. But if anyone has any fairly billy basic recommendations, please kindly advise.

Hey Danno
There are many mods possible... All depends what your requirements are/what do you want to improve on the bike?!
As you say, cans are a first easy upgrade. You also got blue spot front calipers for better braking, double bubble screen for better wind protection, stiffer fork springs/rear jack up kit fig better handling... The world is your oyster really.
Tell us what you want & someone here will surely tell you what you can/should do
Cheers

Depends on where your bike is at and how deep your pockets are. If the maintenance stuff is in good order (tyres, chain, sprox, bearings, oil, lubes) then start shopping. I've had mine for a week and all the regular stuff is OK so I've bought:
- new cans (installed)...lighter, better looking, mild improvement in grunt
- ingiter box (installed)....big improvement in shove. I was unsure about this mod but recommended, very happy
- have ordered flatslides (FCR41) and filter (ramair) to match....I know this is going to be good
- I'm making enquiries about bluespots and suspension upgrades
- also inbound are new grips (mine are awful sponge type ones), new mirrors (to see past my elbows), new levers (cosmetic), and tank protector (cosmetic)
It has been a good week
All those mods (apart from suspension) are very straightforward. Flatslides are supposedly best bang for buck in the power department but the ignition box swap is right up there IMHO

Thanks Dav, I'm liking the sounds of the above very much, were they costly and easy to do?Dav wrote:- ingiter box (installed)....big improvement in shove. I was unsure about this mod but recommended, very happy

Unfortunately the pockets are closely guarded by wife, kids, mortgage etc plus the plan to do one or two trackdays this year hence why I'm looking to make upgrades cheaply and easily, I can see by looking at the numerous modified TRX's on this forum that there really are few limits as to what can be spent.

Blue spots are a good upgrade if going in the track with good pads in and not really expensive. Suspension wise you could just get the standard stuff serviced with new oils and seals, and springs to suit your weight. Tyres is all down to preference. Some use 120/60 some use 120/70. Some on 160 rears or 170. Jack up links and drop the forks through livened mine up, Aswell as down a tooth on the front sprocket.
Double the fun if your riding twins! Shame her sister doesn't think so.

D'oh, I forgot about the front sprocket...THAT is probably best bang for buck
The box swap was very straightforward, sourced via Cobba viewtopic.php?f=33&t=9910
The flatslide installation I had issues with on a previous bike, mostly due to bad wrenching from a previously trusted mechanic. It is actually a pretty straightforward job and I look forward to doing it again
