TDM light and top yoke

Post by marcimark » Fri Dec 20, 2013 12:19 pm

Hi guys,

I am considering changing the handle bars on the TRX, as the riding position is to uncomfortable for me.
I just figured out that the TDM uses 41mm forks as well and I was wondering, if the top yoke would fit on the TRX?
This would save me either drilling holes in the original plate or paying big $$ for an aftermarket plate/Apex riser kit.

EDIT: Got my answer on this one, google actually helped ;)

I also spotted a TDM850 head light on ebay, which I really like.
I believe I have seen a similar light in a TRX before.
Does anybody know if it fits in the original TRX fairing?

Sorry if the questions have been answered before, but I couldn't find answers using the search function.

Thanks and regards,
Marc

Here is something I got a hold of a few months ago and gave to Rod.
Great set up for what you are looking for as it allows for the bars to fit in multiple positions.
The piece that slip over the fork leg allows you to position the bars either forward or backwards and the actual handlebar riser mount bolt at the front and rear is held inplace in a slotted hole so it pivots to keep things square.
You can just see the edge of the slotted hole by the riser mount.
Take the photo to an engineering shop and they can whip something similar up out of billet alloy.

Thanks mate, much appreciated.

It should be possibl to get a FZR or TRX top yoke and cut it to the size???

I tried some risers with a Renthal bar today (just held in place, no drilling), but I believe I have to cut the fairing to make it work :(

I still like the Apex risers and believe they are best and easiest way, but also pricey ($280 + shipping).

I hope you lot don't mind me chipping in now & again still classify myself as a trx enthusiast just ride something different now

Thanks for the heads up with the top yoke.

It looks like I'm using clip-on risers, so I don't have to cut the fairing at this stage.

any ideas on the TDM light?
What lights are the guys with "the two lenses under one one glass" are using?

any help is much appreciated.

If you have the original Yamaha fairing it will have the mounting points for the TDM, FZR, YZF running light. It's easy enough to cut out the fairing and install. Pictured is the one I did on my TRX.

Fzr400r but they use a special 40w/40w bulb. Sometimes hard to source.

Google it and find information like pitch, offsett and fork diameter on different models. These are the three main elements and match that to the Trx specs of 198mm , 25 degrees and 41mm. Then its only stem size and that can be bushed or bored out to suit.
