Yamaha needs to do this, 1200 engine in a trellis frame, some nice suspension, brakes and some sharp looking body work (half fairing of course). Go on Yamaha, please..........pstad wrote:Has anyone looked at a XT1200 Tenere engine transplant. Fuel injected, twin spark with 108 hp..............has same configuration and I suspect same crank case design, although it has shaft drive.
here here, only problem is the super ten weighs a whopping 265kg, so the question is can they may a sub 190kg sport bike with that motor if they opt for a steel trellis frame??xxr55 wrote:Yamaha needs to do this, 1200 engine in a trellis frame, some nice suspension, brakes and some sharp looking body work (half fairing of course). Total agree on this on too Kayla. My mind has been wandering to the 650 gladius (sfv) recently as a naked project. A sweet little V twin with a trellis frame. I've seen a few that have had the ugly fake alloy plastic around the bottom of the frame and the hideous mounts for the rear pegs removed and they start to look pretty cool. Yamaha could/should definitely built a TRX650 to compete in this category.Kayla wrote:Yamaha needs to make a TRX650 to compete with Suzuki and Kawasaki for the commuter market and mini/supertwins racing instead of making dull as dishwater IL4s like the FZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz8
