Restoration

Hi,
I have bought myself a TRX to restore over winter, great I guess most of you would say!!
Certainly it is a bike that I have fancied for a while and whilst it needs quite a bit of tidying I am looking forward to having a reasonable one on the road next April.
This will probably be the first of many posts asking for help and advice as the strip and rebuild progresses.
So I have a few questions which I hope someone out there will be able to help me with. (By the way the bike is an NI registered 1997 TRX.)
1) On removing the fuel tank I notice two vent pipes from the carburettors below the diaphragm, around 15mm external dia with what appears to be a flap valve in line, one pushes over a steel tube welded to the inside of the frame the other is hanging loose between the carbs. Is this correct?
2) There is a large plastic 'U' clip fastened to the top of the off side swinging arm just behind the pivot. What is this for as nothing was pushed into it and it is far too large for a brake pipe?
3) There is a small ding in the front wheel rim. Is it ok to have this repaired?

I have photo's but the file size is too large to up load so I am hoping my explanation is good enough?
Here's hoping someone out there can help.
Cheers
Rob

Many thanks.
It looks as if someone has attached one of the carb breathers to the air box breather, leaving the other one hanging loose when both should be left to hang loose.
That now leaves the question of what the air box breather was fitted to???
