Prices

Post by Gix » Thu Jun 28, 2012 11:57 pm

what seems to be going on with TRX prices at the mo ?
I have been toying with buying a 2nd bike for a while and have been watching prices both here, Gumtree and Ebay.
When I was looking for my first TRX around Jan I was looking to pay around £1100 ish for a decent one up to possibly £1500 for a minter..as it happens, I dropped on my minter for £1300.
Just of late I have seen some pretty doggy ones selling on Ebay at around£1200 whilst there have been some real nice ones not being snapped up straight away on here for less....
A few recent 'project' ones,(high miles, bolloxed cranks, accident damaged) have fetched between £500 and £800 ... Odd when there are perfectly good ones on here for not much more and the cost of fixing up these project will likely cost the same again

Not bought a 2nd one yet as I am still trying to work out a good excuse for the wife

Theres no reason to it.
I have watched every TRX sold on ebay and the prices vary immensely.
Think a good one is worth circa 1500, but...
We have not really had biking weather yet this year.
Also, ebay bikes advertised at Spares or Repair make rediculous money from dreamers.
Plus, forum prices can be low cos you are advertising to a market that already have a TRX!
Check the For Sale section on here and look at my bike for sale, then come and buy it! :-)

Upon visiting the UK, found the prices of TRX's so cheap. In Australia, $5000 for good condition (about 3300 pounds). 1500 pounds seemed common, even for mint condition. Might grab a few and ship over here...lol

pull your head in  it ain't a cattletruck.. $5000 :) there's been some great buys goin for $3000/ 3,500 over here.. Things are no different than in England we have peaks and troughs and those who will always put theirs out there for a overinflated price..
Rod scored a great buy for $700 the other week, I've seeen it and what a great score , I payed 1500 for my trackbike with a pile of spares.. have a look at the reality check on OZ prices thread I put up with some links to some great deals on e bay.

Cob, after your comment I'd thought I'd have a little look. First sales website viewed (bike sales .com.au) indicate 18 bikes, most ranging from 4500- 6500. Only two bikes are in the 3-4 range. Again, as an average what i say stands.

Well it's like they say..there's a sucker born every minute and that's the market they are aiming for and it doesn't reflect on the true market value of the motorcycle..No disrespect but It pays to shop around

Hey Cobba, Check out the small blue print under the price - "reserve not met" I bet you wouldn't
get it for under $4000 or so. :D

Just because it's on there at a cheap starting price doesn't mean it's going to be cheap does it?

Very rare to find one over in WA for under $4500 - closer to $5500 seems to be the going rate here.

That cafe looks alright for that starting price - a lot of work already done. The Red '98 looks like a grey import and so wouldn't it have to be a '95 model as TRX's were officially imported by yamaha from '96 onward there by excluding any other year models being imported 2nd hand for sale. Guess it could be a private import.

perhaps its a weather thing?
Perhaps theres a good market to ship bikes between the UK and Australia every 6 months, buying low and selling high?

Perhaps the beer fridge has emptied too fast
