Chain Change

Hi

I notice that my chain...has only 2 clicks to go..before it's run out of...adjustment....the sprockets look ok...Mmm.......does anyone carry on past the notches..on the scale........with fingers crossed ??

When you say notches, I assume you mean the markers on the swingarm? Personally, I don't tend to go by them too much as far as adjustment goes, as they're never particularly accurate. I would say that your best bet to check how much life is left in the chain is to check regularly for tight spots, etc, rather than only checking the markers on the swingarm.

Personally I normally try to pull the chain off the back of the rear sprocket, if it moves more than 7 ish mm it's probably time to change.

In my experience when a well maintained chain suddenly starts to need regular adjustments after a few hundred miles or so, then it's indicative that it's past it's best. On a good chain I would say that I don't expect to have to adjust more than once or twice between services
