Well, it took about 20 minutes to fit the shorter dogbones to my bike at lunchtime. Easy peasy The bike certainly looks like it'll turn quicker. I'll see if I can find a twisty way to get home- not easy when my commute consists of 30-odd miles of A19 and A1...

I know. There's always something that you think needs to be 'improved'. I'll be putting the bike on a diet over the winter though, that's for sure.

The bike feels more front endy (good) but obviously there's more weight on my wrists now which whilst not exactly A Good Thing, it does feel 'righter'. I know 'righter' isn't a word, but it fits here, ok? I have 20mm rise at the back and the forks have 25mm showing above the clip-on. The clip-ons are still mounted above the top yoke but I might try them under it this weekend.

Kayla, why would you put the clipons under the yoke if you don't like the weight on your wrists?

also be careful as it might get a bit slapy ,,,,depends how hard you push it

25mm above the clip-on is more that standard/recommended, so this plus a 'rear rise' should be quite sharp steering!

You could go back to, say, 15mm showing, and still have it sharp due to the rear rise.

Do standard clip-ons fit below the yoke, cos of the bit that sticks out to bolt the clip-on to the top yoke?


(I know where there's a pair of Harris clp-ons shortly for sale which don't have that bit on... )

The bike feels fine, and not slappy at all. It's probably only dropped a degree or so at the front so the rake's going to be 24 degrees or thereabouts and with the 30mm offset and longish wheelbase it's still pretty tame compared to the Buell. I don't know what the standard is for the forks showing above the clip ons, but it was set at 25mm when I collected it so just left it. I figured that sharp is better than raked out! It's loads better on the brakes too, but I don't know if it's all in me head or not!

As for trying the clip-ons under the yoke, it's a case of it being a free mod that's reversible- why not? if it's rubbish I can always put it back how it was

I'm hoping to get out for a proper blast tomorrow and see what's what.

The thing with tanks slappers , you never know you need a steering damper until it happens,

for me , it was on a fzr 600 at 110mph facing a house. I thought that was it.....

I would never wish that experience on anyone.

Nb i have the photos of the 40 yard rubber mark on the road before i eventually got it under control.
