Any one on here race or raced a trx? What sort of clubs are good for racing them?

He's becoming a regular in the Peterborough bike rags. He's sort of like the Stig (or if you prefer, the Baron) of TRXs. One day it will be revealed he's really Steve Rose, and then everyone will have to sell their TRXs in shame.

Pity about the change in direction at PB. It was actually getting really interesting, with the build-it-yourself ethos, going back to the days when it was full of specials (only better), and the whole testing at the Turdburglaring thing. But by the look of my latest subscription copy, it's going back in the direction of expensive bolt-on tat and wall to wall tests of GSX-R-1000s... Ho hum.

Yeah i noticed that when i was flicking through. If it gets any worse you might as well call it fast bikes mag. The reason i liked it is exactly what you said, the whole build it yourself thing. The old bikes, 2 and 4 stroke (mainly 2 stroke ) is what im into and it seems to be becoming more rare. I'll be buying classic racer soon (although its not a bad mag anyhow).

Actually, the original-and-still-the-best version of Fast Bikes, back in the 90s when Colin Schiller was still running it, liked the TRX a lot. They even saw through the awful Michelin Macadams and bouncy castle forks that the test bikes came with. Mind you, they liked the Guzzi California and the Bimota Mantra as well ...

Performing Berks used to be really good. It's a shame they revert to 'crap' every so often then have to reinvent themselves as 'the new and better PB'. The recent ones, the ones with BABIYOS and Project Big Bang were excellent.

Technical features = good, shiny bolt-on tat = bad. There are probably more bikers out there who don't give a poop about the latest, fastest, lightest, sharpest, most-packed-with-technology superbikes than there are who do. Personally, I'd rather read about a nicely home built bobber or supermono than an R1 that's had thousands of pounds of genuine real-fake carbon-look rubbish stuck on it.

The trx? Well its either too under powered or not eligable for most it seems so its gonna be a difficult one. Seriously looking into doin a endurance race on it with mottrax though.

It's a shame it's not eligible for Thunderbikes as that looks like an interesting series. Funny how the 748 or any capacity (carbed) triple is allowed yet not the TRX I guess the classes it is eligible for it would get comprehensively spanked in.

If you guys are after a good magazine that covers both home jobbies and some of the modern stuff check out Rapid magazine from Australia. They are in the finals throws of building up an RS250 bike with a KTM single motor. Doing it over quite a few issues and would be an awesome bike once sorted. Wayne Gardner writes for them and the other guys seem to be fairly competent and down to earth compared to the glossy high street mags.

Isn't it strange how no-one seems to love the latest "new, new" PB? Wonder how the editorial team didn't get the memo? Perhaps they discovered it was a lot more effort finding new, interesting stuff to write about than just doing the same old.

Will have to check out that Rapid mag. I'm also enjoying TBM, which actually seems to enjoy writing in detail about riding and not just recycling press packs or their last 5 tests of the latest and greatest. It's good stuff if one is into dirt riding, and not a pimple or a "no fear" sticker in sight. Plus, it's in a handy tiny format (quarto? octavo?) for easy portability.
