do any of you lot know anywere or one who can rebuild my standard shock, or would it be better to buy an aftermarket one ( im not talking stupid money...there is is a recession on you know) hagon are the only ones iv'e heared of, any advice mucho appreciated

thanks , think iv'e seen their ad in the bike press, while im on two things changed oil today and thought i'd do plugs as well.....jesus wot a joke, do you have to take off radiator ,pipework and most of the wiring loom to change your bloody plugs
also when i took off the tank to(attempt) plugs i disconnected the fuel pipes and petrol pissed out everywere ,vacum not working then, does this probably mean that the diaphram in the fuel tap has gone or could the filter be blocked ? manuel recomends fitting new '0' ring on tap if it has to come off for anything .................thoughts...thanks again

yep, spark plugs are a pain! People on here will tell you it is possible to pivot the rad enough to get your hands behind but they must have ladies hands

if your fuel tap was pissing petrol on "on" or "res" (ie not prime) then you have a problem with your petcock (cue cock gags from teh people with ladies hands )

i guess i have lady hands !!


only took 15 mins thought and a few scratches - used an extension 3/8's bar with a knuckle - removed the rad bracketts and moved it forward enough - then angled long nose pliers to lift them out

lady hands? it's easy when you know how.

remove the 4 mounting bolts and push the rad away on its hoses. simple. unless you're a big lump of a klutz.

So Youngy has ladies hands and Phuk has Irish Navvy shovels. I'm in between, did it but removed a bit of skin.

what the feck is a petcock ,here's another cunundrum for you all,..... changed oil and filter warmed first let it drip for ages took of the filler cap had the bike up straight, etc etc ,manuels say 3.6 litres with filter change ,i measured what came out..........one and a half litres!!! could only get two and half back in let it settle overnight ,today its on top line of sightglass , 3.6 litres my lily white arse mr yamaha

you only removed one of the 2 oil drain plugs.

you didn't take out the one by the filter that drains the tank.

you have to remove this as the tank cannot drain via the filter due to the anti-syphon valve.

Mr Yamaha is correct.

The sump drains better with the bike on the sidestand instead of upright.

Your not the first and you wont be the last, its been discussed on here times. Undoing both will also get the oil coming out a lot quicker. So now you know, what are you going to do, re drain the oil, so as to get the crap out, or leave it as it is?

and make sure you check the oil level after you have run the bike - DO NOT check teh oil level cold

going back to the fuel tap pissing out petrol am i better just getting new o ring set and diaphram and rebuilding it is there anywere else apart from ayam dealers i can get these from,, thank

I'm 99.99% positive I've got a spare fuel tap in the garage - PM me if you want it

its £55 plus vat for a new one from yamaha,whats the condition of yours and how much ..cheers thanks for the offer
