Ran the trx for a good while today, all ok but its trying to melt the plastic under the seat.
Its right over the + terminal on the battery, is it just a case of wiring touching the seat pan
and needing re routing or could it be something more serious

Re: Hmmmm its trying to melt the seat
On my Ténéré many years ago the charging system was fekked wich made the battery extremely hot and starting to boil...although i had an annoying piiiiping sound as well....col wrote:Ran the trx for a good while today, all ok but its trying to melt the plastic under the seat.

Re: Hmmmm its trying to melt the seat
The battery terminals shouldn't be getting hot at all unless there is some kind of high resistance there. Is the terminal and connector nice and clean? Rust/poor connection could lead to high resistance and that could cause heat. The battery itself may get slightly warm under normal charge but nowhere near hot enough to melt the seat!!
The other possibility is that something is causing a short-circuit. That could cause heat. Make sure that under the seat there are no exposed metal parts that could be shorting the battery.
Are you having any other electrical issues?

Re: Hmmmm its trying to melt the seat
no everything else is fine.
I had to replace the rear medgaurd/undertray a while ago as my snappped
chain destroyed it, i've tried to get everything back on and mounted where it
should be but its been difficult figuring out the precise routing for everything
as the wiring under the seat is so packed in.
i've tried to use the manual and parts fische as a guide but i really need someone
to take a good clear close up photo of theirs and post it on here, that way i can see
where it all goes.
