I bought one...

It doesn't fit...

The fork legs on the TDM 3VD are same diameter and are even the same width apart...

The stem is also the same diameter...

However, the distance between the stem and the forks is different...

I imagine that the headstock is a larger diameter on the TDM?

So... It may be that the bottom yoke of a TDM would fit?

Does anyone know before I buy one?

Well, I have modified my top yoke by drilling it and it works only I am worried that where I have tapped a thread through it there are probably only 4 or so turns of thread holding the bars on (10 mm thick?)

I can't secure them with a nut because the web is in the way.

What has anyone else done?

just an idea could you get the web built up with weld and then machined flat and tapped/helicoiled? then mabe a penny washer and lock nut? probs wont be the cheapest way.

could grind the web away and washer and lock nut it.

yes exactly, which is why i suggested building it up with weld and also why i gave one line saying about grinding it away, ive seen it done before time and time again nevr seen a problem but i wouldnt do it myself.

unfortunatly alot of people dont want to do it the right way and would rather do a cheaper unsafer way. ( i should of been abit clearer)

Have a chat with a local engineering works, to get one made from billet aluminium. To buy one is about £200 I think. As said the web is there to give strength and save weight, grinding it away is not the best option!

I have another option...

I haven't drilled through the web so I could put a longer bolt wit a long top hat shaped spacer which should get it clear of the bottom of the yoke then I can put a nut and washer on it.

The yoke itself is threaded so it's only to support those threads really.

It does up nicely and doesn't feel like it is going to strip.

It is just me being safety concious.

It might not feel like it's going to give.

But you don't want it to give just when you need it, like when you have to brake heavily to avoid some nasty accident, and all your weight (plus the pillion?) is on the bars (I know you shouldn't put all your weight on the bars, but...)
