I finally did it ....

Post by Greg » Wed Mar 05, 2008 7:22 pm

This morning at 08:30 I dropped the bike.. :|

The van was in for an MOT, so smart arse thought he'd put the bike in the van to ride home and save time.. I had to collect my daughter from work with the other car AND get back in time to give it to Sue so she could get to the docs for 9:45 - get the picture? Yeah I was rushed!

So, arrived late at garage dropped the keys off - rolled the bike out, started it and put my gloves on blah blah.. Rode off the forecourt and almost as soon as I hit the tarmac the rear tyre slipped out to the left as though I was riding on fuhcking soap..! It swung back round to the right and finally hit the deck on it's LHS. I remember performing a very graceful arc over the bike followed by an equally athletic shoulder roll which allowed me to spring lithely back to by feet. I expleted quite a lot as I picked the bike up and started it. A slightly more careful ride home ensued.

A cursory glance showed a very minor scrape to the bottom of the forkleg, a nice bright addition to the gouges the PO left on the LH engine case for me and a slightly bent clutch lever. I was very thankful not to have fukked up the can and to have escaped with bodywork unscathed. The only real damage was to my pride as all of this happened at about 5mph...

Job for the weekend: Fit the crash-bungs I've had on my shelf for the last 18 months...

Cold tyres, 1C and greasy road... bollocks!

Yaaah ..

I was worried I didn't scuff my helmet on such a stupid off, but did land on my right palm which was painful as it 'reminded' me of the carpal release I had a while ago... ouch ouch ..

I'll be more careful next time lol..

Cheers to all for your help and support in my time of distress - it makes me feel all warm and squiggly inside :hahaha: ...

Quant - I was just p!ssed off that it happened at all - my offroad riding skill (or lack of it) means I'm no stranger to finding myself buried head first in a bush with the KTM revving its bollocks off somewhere else, but seriously, on a road bike? I'm just glad it wasn't the RT otherwise I'd have had to re-mortgage to fix the plastics ..

Ah you and me both then

The common theme seems to be TRX going slow and slipping off and MOTs

It's a conspiracy I tell you :-)
