i was going to use it today but it's poured down all day and i still haven't got any decent waterproofs sorted. meant t be dry tomorrow so i might get out on it for the rest of the week then drop the oil again at the weekend. looks pap without the bellypan but it saves taking it off and refitting it all the time.

Penrite HPR 15 Diesel. After reading your post and comparing to what I read here: http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/Oils1.html it will the only thing the trx will see.
Section under commercial diesel oils is very enlighting.

Read most of the link and will stick to the Motul 5100 that i currently use and know to be good when hot with gearbox. Some i tried cause false
neutrals when the oil gets hot.

It took me some time but....
I quote;
"These days, since everyone has agreed that Group III base oils are "synthetic," I'm not sure "semi-synthetic" means anything at all. The manufacturers love this stuff: it costs about 15% more to make the oil, and they get to charge about double. I don't recommend semi-synthetics. Save your money and take your kids to McDonalds."
Mc Donalds, here we come
I quote;
"Based on this result and the VI numbers above, it would seem that 10w-40, 5w-20, and 5w-30 oils cannot be safely used in motorcycles for more than 1,000 to 1,500 miles."
Aye, I will go 4 an oil change 2mrrw
I quote;
"Essentially all 0w-20, 5w-30 and 10w-30 oils are energy conserving, and should not be used in your motorcycle. "
Not in my REX
I quote;
"There are several key advantages to using Synthetic Oils".
So there is 'a light in the tunnel'
I quote;
"Remember, 10w-40 oils contain a lot of VIIs which tend to shear in your transmission, so I believe 10w-40 oils should be avoided. You can't use 10w-30 because of the friction modifiers. This doesn't leave much."
I use 10w-40 in the REX..... but never had false neutrals
I was already planning on doing an oil change soon (after 6000k), but I'm in doubt now, whether to use the 10w-40 or go for 5w-40 or 15w-40, by Mobil or Shell....
Thanx for the info..... or not

After some information I can tell this;
Shell Benelux said that Rotella T is only for the USA market. The name Rotella is still used, in the USA, for the 'top' quality heavyduty diesel motor oil. In the rest of the world, this quality is named Rimula. For the shipping branch it's called Serius by the way .
If the Rimula is a 15w-40 one, they have doubts if this would/could be synthetic . Because, as they say, when you mix synthetic components to the oil, it automatically becomes a 10w quality The 15w-40 oils are (almost) always mineral based.
About Rimula Ultra as synthetic quality, it's only available in 10w-40. (and that is NOT what we want, we already have that )
A company in the Netherlands can provide me with the Rimula in barrels of 209 or 55 ltr. or a barrel with 20ltr. A litre will cost €3,96 and above that, Shell wants an extra commision for the 20ltr. package of €30,-
So that €79,20 for the 20 ltr. barrel plus €30,- makes about €110,- in total
Not, by any means, cheap... but when shared somehow reasonable I guess. Or you can do 5 oil changes and have some left for between
I'm waiting for some more information about the Mobil one.
I'll be in touch
