Hello All,

ive got a question related to my frount wheel.

im getting a rubbing (squilling) noise when i slow down enough to hear the noise from my frount wheel area.

the troube shooting i have completed is as followers,

removed both sets of brake pads and went up and down the street. = no noise

inserted my right hand side brake pads, up and down street, = no noise


took out right hand side and replaced left hand side only = no noise


put both sets in and went up and down the road again. = no noise ????


after a couple trips to work (only a total of 26ish Kms) the noise is back


any tips or suggestions

OK.. ill give a quick summary not a 100% solution.

See the brake pads, and the disks ? notice they both are "dull" when they dont squeek ? but when its squeeks they have a basic shine or are whats called "glazed" ?

pads could possibly too hard for your style of riding.. but the softer you go, the faster you wear them out.

If you get simple glazing on the pads, get a scourer pad (think the green dish cleaning scratcher pad.. 3M make em) and scrub your disks to take the glaze outta them.. Get your pads and rub them face down one by one on the cement (somthin smooth.. just your porch / gutter sohuld be plenty smooth enough.. but NOT the road.. ashphelt is too crap)

get the glaze outta em, repeat.. if it fixes the problem, means your disks aint scrubbing the pads clean enough or efficiently.. meaning disks rub rather than scrub.. thus, squeel noises

on a side note.. you sohuld scrub your disks when you change your oil / change your pads. or if you do a track day, at the end of if (if your serious, each session like i do with the race bike).

summary: scrub the shine outta your disks, rub your pads.. see how long it takes to come back.. if its fairly fast... try a softer pad or get your disks skimmed.. the holes / slots in disks are actually ment to have VERY sharp edges to work.. DONT EVER deburr or radius them.. its incredibly bad.
