new valves needed

Does anyone been able to buy valves to suit the rex other than from yamaha. They want around $650 for the 10 valves. I am rebuilding the engine after one of the big end bearings decided to go on a diet and became thinner than kate moss. The valve seats are getting replaced (amost 100,000 kms) and we were hoping to be able to reuse the valves but they are stuffed. Had a look on the net for valves for the rex but cannot see anything. Just wondering if anyone else has done a head rebuild and gotten new valves. Thanks

Yup, did buy new valves last year. Should be the same as for the R6 (not sure which years though). They are slightly longer, but nothing that can't be solved with re-shimming. If I recall it right, the Yama sparepart nr for the TRX was ending with a "-2" instead of the "-1", and we checked the R6's nr since the workshop kind of recognised the nr and it was the same. The explanation would be that these valves were replacing the standard valves, and they are supposed to be lasting longer. I won't vouch for this completely, as I am never relying 100% on other internet tips, that come from guys/gals I don't know

but see it as a tip, and check it up yourself.

My machinist ended up getting a honda valve and is going to machine it down to suit the TRX. With new hardened seats and stainless valves I will never need to reshim the valves. The old seats were the soft '96 model which were reshimmed twice whilst I had it and were very stuffed when stripped down. Thanks for the advise that you guys gave.
