Forum Upgrade

Post by Jak » Tue Jul 05, 2022 10:08 pm

Well hello
It's been a while
I'm still alive
:geek:

Aside from that ... I've just finished a long-running argument with the hosting company about the package we're on. The important news ...

We're being upgraded and shortly (next week or two) they are upgrading us, adding security certificates and all that stuff
:wav:

There will (they say) be no noticeable downtime - and I will update this thread when they contact me to let me know when.

The benefits will be that the website will be quicker, things will work and everything should look the same.

As well as that - I'm actually back around and will catch up on messages, etc. I cannot thank the admins enough - especially Dicky - for keeping this place going while I've been awol

Life throws crap sometimes, then this thing called covid hit. But enough of excuses - I may not have my TRX now  but I still love them and my Jeep has a TRX plate (which I've been embarrassed about whilst I've been awol).

To all the newbies who've arrived in the past couple of years :hello2:

To everyone who knows who I am #-o

Welcome back indeed.
We really missed you being around.
Life is pretty shitty at times, if you were any closer I'd give you a hug.

Hey Jak!

Very nice to see you back! =D>

... sometimes the thing called "life" just laughs about your plans ...

But all will be good, now that you are here again
(however, not sure about the "website will be quicker, things will work and everything should look the same"  )

Welcome back greets from Munich!

Yep life’s thrown more than my fair share of shit but hey ho. I’d have thought you’d have wanted to :violent1: rather than hug me

Nice to see some friendly faces at the bar :occasion5:

Hey Jak,
Good to hear that you (like me) are still around despite what life throws at us.
If you are at Castle Coombe over the weekend of 20/21 August I'll stand you that pint :occasion5:

At long last  the upgrade is happening :occasion7:

The website/forum will be down tomorrow whilst the work is done - not sure how long for but it will be from first thing UK time

When it reappears it will be shiny and sparkly and there will probably be a few things that don't look/work quite right (bit like me) 8-[

Please bear with me while I try and work through it - please reply here with anything you notice isn't working

and perhaps cross a few fingers

Hi admin(s), hi Jak!

Just tried to send a pm with two little pictures (one 170kb, the other 140 kb) and it says that the type "jpg" is not allowed ...
Also ".jpeg" doesn't work.

As there's no information what data format is allowed, here my question:

Can I add files to a pm and - in case it is allowed - which files?

Clueless greets from Munich!

PS:
When sending a pm, it seems that it is not sent but it is - so while not sure of it after the first attempt, any further attempt resends it without really saying that the pm is sent ...

The permission to send attachments with PM's was disabled.
I have enabled it and it should work the same as for forum posts.
It was saying .jpg not supported because it was disabled.

Hi dicky!

Thanks a lot, pm including pictures worked and is in the outbox.

However, the problem as described in the PS of my above post still exits and is a little disturbing.

Nevertheless managed greets from Munich!

I'll see what I can find about the message status.
I may need to send you some PM's to find out what is or isn't working.
Just between you and me, the forum upgrade hasn't really fixed much.
Some parts are still broken but only Jak can fix them.

Thanks in advance!

Feel free to send me as many PM's as you think are necessary.

And if it's something you can't fix, don't worry - as a workaround I can recommend opening a further* tab (or window, if you like) to check whether the PM that was intended to being sent is actually sitting in the outbox.

* this will prevent loosing your PM in case it was not sent yer.

Supporting greets from Munich!

Not sure about that, but WELCOME BACK! =D> :D
