Motor is dead.. What can I do?

Hey all. So my TRX has given up, the day after she ticked over 100,000km. Or more so I killed her.. I let the oil get too low and rode it hard daily [-(
I'm not mechanically inclined, best I could say is it developed a knock then the next time I started it it sounded like rocks in the motor.. haven't tried since.

The motor is dead, but the rest of the bike is in pretty good condition and has sentimental value to me. I've been on the lookout for a wrecked TRX with a running motor but it seems unlikely I'll find one.

Is it possible to have a motor with such high KMs rebuilt? And would it even be possible to source parts?
I'm assuming I've done some big damage.

I understand it would cost a fair bit but I'd hate to see such a beautiful bike torn down for parts. It still looks as good as the day I bought it.

Thanks anyone and everyone!

Everything is possible but it’s gonna cost you… Running low on oil usually means a big end worn out and your crank will be damaged. It can be reworked but it’s specialist work (hence expensive). Buying a new crank isn’t worth it, you could buy a complete second hand TRX for that. If cranks are even still for sale, I don’t know for sure.
Best thing to start with, is to take the engine apart to check for actual damage, before spending money.

Complete engines are around and available, but the sting is going to be postage/freight.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have looked around for a good motor but no luck so if anyone could point me to one, hopefully in Aus I would appreciate it greatly.
In the mean time, I guess I'll front up for my mechanic to have a good look. Honestly being that it has over 100,000km I'm sceptical if it's worth it..
Realistically, as people who understand my love for the TRX.. Is it worth rebuilding a motor with such high ks?
If I sound delusional and should give up on the TRX let me know because I tend to go heart over brain with bikes and cars every time.

On the subject.. if anyone is after a spares bike or feels like taking the challenge on for a rebuild, I could be convinced to sell for a low price to another enthusiast. I won't be listing it anywhere, but if anyone here wants to speak to me about it I'm in Adelaide.

I just don't want it sitting there anymore, it's too pretty to gather dust in the shed.

This has 100000K's and is still going strong and worth every penny, so they are worth it.

Rebuilt my motor with performance parts at 145,000km and still had hone marks on the bore, was running sweet with no issues and there’s guys on the forum with 250-300,000kms on their motors.

Awesome, that's really impressive. Could you suggest anyone in South Australia or even Victoria who might be willing to take on a rebuild?
