Oil nozzle

Post by kenbev » Mon Dec 14, 2020 3:57 am

Have just removed my sump for gasket replacement and while checking every thing found that the oil nozzle was just hanging on by one thread and after checking my manual it says to check that it has not come loose. Posting this in case some one out there is not aware of this. Cheers. Kenbev

Oil nozzle? Do you mean the oil pickup?
If it's not made in China, it's a fake!

Nozzle or pickup?

As far as I'm concerned, the oil filler pipe or oil filler neck should be meant. :joe:

But I'm open for other suggestions ... :D

Oil nozzle, looks just like a carbie jet and is in bottom of sump left hand side. Quite clearly shown in manual photo 22.5 on page 41 engine, clutch and transmission. Cheers Kenbev.

I'm pretty sure that you are the first to ever mention this part.
It is in the parts manual but it is not mentioned in the factory service manual. It is not a service part.
Why Haynes even mentioned it is a mystery, but since they did, anyone using their manual will probably remove and reinstall the jet, thereby ensuring that it can become loose again, and bingo, a self perpetuating problem is born.
I actually have a hardcopy of the Haynes service manual, it is under the table leg in my study to keep the table level. That is more than I think it is good for.

Dicky, agree with you Re Haynes Manual. Only reason I mentioned it was after checking mine was found to be very loose. I have no idea what its for so I just screwed it in tight and put the sump back on. Merry Christmas. Kenbev.
