I managed to get around the front sprocket offset issue in another way if anyone is interested.
I found that an RVF750 sprocket uses the same spline, is 525 pitch and is substantially wider (14.5mm) than the TDM sprocket (10.8mn) at the centre.
I machined a 4mm deep counterbore in one side of the sprocket, which left a 4mm boss on the other side of the sprocket.
It now sits 6mm inwards from where the original one was.

Hi tdrx21!

Thanks for telling us an alternative way for aligning the front sprocket with a TDM 900 engine in.

"Appreciating your post" - greets from Munich!

No problem,
Hopefully the information will be useful for for anyone doing the same engine swap.
In order to use the standard nut - I also made a 3mm thick spacer to go between the sprocket & the tab washer.
An M30 washer would be good enough to use for anybody that doesn't have access to to a lathe though.
