Are you just going to bore out the trx triple trees to take the 43mm forks???jpe70 wrote:Last two months have been difficult money-wise, but finally looks sorted on the horizont so got around to buy some presents for the Bumble-bee. A set of R6 RSU forks on it's way as is a R6 rear axle complete with all collars and spacers. Yay!
Been fine that way before by Mark on his trx.

Yep, that was the plan after much checking around. Wanted to keep the stock-ish sleeper look. A friend can probably arrange the bore, and then it's no work really. Might do differently in future but for now I couldn't be arsed to swapping stems and finding a proper geometry on different triple's.cobbadiggabuddyblooo wrote:Are you just going to bore out the trx triple trees to take the 43mm forks???jpe70 wrote:Last two months have been difficult money-wise, but finally looks sorted on the horizont so got around to buy some presents for the Bumble-bee. Amazing. How long some things can take. Like getting a rear wheel in place. But there it is, in place today.

Topped up the oil. Besides the normal oil, also my home-made chain lubrication device.

Removed fork legs, and found out they are heavier than a pair from an R6. What is this bike made of, lead filled steel tubes?
Next up, triples goes away for 43 mm bore.

R6 forks have thinner walled tubes as a weight saving device but at the detriment of strength.
Much like the later model R6 wheels, fart too hard upon them and they bend.

Since I come from racing with the lightest generation old R1, I'm not overly worried. That bike disintegrated when others just washed the dirt off and went on.

Yay!
