What's your reason for rebuilding the engine? Race, performance road use, freshen up for another 100000K's or solve a problem?

For road use I'd measure the bores, if they are within factory spec,
For around $1000aust, AND you'd now know the internal condition of the engine which is one thing you'll never truly know with a used secondhand engine..
hone and new rings,
service the head,
new valve guide seals etc,
recut the valves and seats and take a smidge off the head to give a slight increase in the compression ratio,
new timing chain and tensioner,
new oil pump,
replace the return oil valve in the side cover,
new inlet rubbers,
Assemble and enjoy another 100000k's

Next would be crank out and new bearings throughout the engine and much more
If it's not made in China, it's a fake!
