Coolant problem

Hi.
New to the site and looking for a bit of advice.
Rebuild on my bike and just connected up the rad with new coolant but temp gauge running
Up to 80 and it's never done that before. I've checked that the fan works at least but not sure about anything else.??? Help!

Oil and filter change. Removed ignition switch, changed plugs.
The rest was bodywork.

You sure the coolant is circulating properly?

I'm not sure how to check that. I can see the level in the rad rise once the engine is turned off.

Is the coolant visibly flowing when you look into the radiator with the engine running?

Just checked my fan thermostat and it is kaput. There does appear to be movement in the water.
Is there a go to replacement fan thermostat or is it main dealer?

If you are just after a fan switch, then i've used one of these previously. They go for $30. M16x1.5, you can choose your preferred switching temp, I used a 85-90 degree.

drained and refilled the coolant yesterday, fitted a new thermoswitch and still no joy.
With the rad filler cap off, when i start the engine the coolant level drops and im sure that there is movement, otherwise where else is it going when it drops.
does anyone think an airlock is possible?
gonna go back and check that the new switch is working. might try a lower operating temperature switch.

With the rad cap off and holding say 2000 revs you should see the coolant circulating.

Tested the new switch suspended in a boiling pan of water and no circuit so I guess that's duff too.
Any UK options available.
Removed and checked thermostat works.
Where abouts on temperature gauge does anyone else's sit?

Riding around it stays not far off the stop, but sat in traffic mine has been very lively ever since I replaced the emulsion tubes. A solid 5 minutes sat in traffic is a big problem.

Could it just be a loose connection in the wiring? Bad connections can lead to faulty readings.
I have an aftermarket oil temp gauge in my car, one day I had a problem that my oil temp was getting higher then normal. But then I realised that I worked on the dashboard the day before. After inspection i found that the ground wasn't wired properly to the gauge.

80 isn't to bad. Is that sitting in the shed or mobile ? Mine sits on 70 on the road, If I run it up in the shed it goes to 100 then the fan kicks in dropping it back to 70 or 75.
70 on the road is with ambient temp at 30 c approx.
