Hi, looking at a 99 model bike at the moment, just wondering if Vin and engine numbers should match

They both have the 4XG but last four digits are different by 118 is this normal

Engine number is 4XG-xxxxxx
Vin is JYA4XGOT5XAxxxxxx

Any help greatly appreciated hoping to be hanging with the cool TRX owners soon.

Short answer Yes that's normal on the trx not to match.
Do a search and you'll find a couple of threads explaining the coding and how to read them...
The Japanese imports have no engine numbers at all stamped on them.
