Yes it gives a nice separation but the black on black has a kind of dark and mysterious feel about it...
Flipped a coin to make the decision on this on and black came up on the call.

I wanted to do my frame black too, but in the end I just couldn't be arsed

speaking of photoshop, I have been doing a little tinkering of my own for potential colours of my track bike (sorry for the thread hijack)

trying to devise a decent colour scheme with minimal work given the bikes current colour.

so far, this is what I have come up with:

standard:

new:

I think it makes it look like its less of a black fairing on a red bike, and I dont have to do a lot to make it red.

so I have a red tail (!), red tank and red front fender.

that swathe of red on the side of the fairing joins them all together.

in my head anyway.

anyways go with the black frame its mean and moody.

Perfect choice I feel with the extra red give a nice separation between the beast below and the master above.
Here is a photo I found of the black and gold theme.

Highlander touched on a JPS theme on an earlier post and this has a bit of an age old look to it with cafe style fairing.

This is my pride and joy have owned it for a year now and it's my weekend warrior, 1996 frame with a 1997 motor (as far as i can tell).

Had the motor resprayed gloss black (it was already black) using White Knight Hi Temp Gloss Black, ran the motor hot first before applying, waited a couple of days then applied a couple of coats of gloss clear ceramic coat on top sanding and fixing things in between.

The rims, gear cover and the yamaha cover were sprayed with Iron Grey also coated with a clear gloss. This was the closet colour I could get off the shelf.
The frame has had touch ups on it using of all things a Hyundai colour called Warm Silver again closet colour i gould get to match and it's amlost identical to original.

The body work is still original colour dark green (but i'm colour blind) and has not been touched in any way. Every thing i can take off of the bike has polished. (the owner also needs a good polish.) Starting to get happy with the way she looks.

Everything on it is stock as a rock and that's the way i like (aha aha).
