What's it worth?
Quick question guys, as I posted before I did a small low speed slide that resulted in my bike being cat c and I can't decide whether to buy the bike back and either repair/mod it or sell it on. Before the accident it was a mint 16000 miler with usual upgrades and the only damage appears to be front fairing, screen mirrors, the left clip on and grazed exhaust strap.
What do you think it's worth as it stands?

Re: What's it worth?
Buy it back , seperate the bike and sell as spares,
You'll make your money back on the motor alone
The rest is pocket money

Re: What's it worth?
Its mostly the Cat C that detracts from the value, can make difficult to sell. May be better to rebuild into a clean frame.
Sounds like worth saving if you are prepared for the work, otherwise let it go.

Re: What's it worth?
Depends if you want to keep it/are attached to it or not..
Also depends on the price you can buy the salvage back. I bought my cat c TRX (clean 1998 bike with 2000iles) back from the insurer for circa £150 and is a keeper to me no matter what..
Decisions decisions..

Re: What's it worth?
Don't throw away good money...
If the tanks is good well there's a few more $$$ in your pocket,
16000Miles the discs have plenty of miles left in them too just to start.
People are usually chasing the forks, headlight, dash, switchgear, front and rear pegs just to name a few as most accidents are usually front end damage.
Stem/Bottom triple tree are another good seller and if you have 1 common key (Fuel cap, top tree, seat lock) a complete lock set usually sell fast too. Do a little research on spares
Turn the frame into a funky bookshelf.
Sell it as spares and what you make you can easily buy another registered TRX ready to ride away...
TRX seems a dime a dozen over there but the 2nd hand spares are always in demand..
If tyres/wheels,sprocket and chain are good, keep them for your next TRX.
Take the cases off the motor and the head , sell them too as someone will snap up the bottom end easily for a couple of hundred as a good crank is like gold... If it's an 97 onwards, someone with an earlier model and dodgy valves will easily take the head too.
Alt. cover usually cops it on LH lowsides and the oil pump cover on RH slides.
Keep the water pump as your own spare ...
and the 90* metal tube that bolts into the head and feeds coolant back to the thermostat. That little pipe is no longer available from Yamaha so another piece of gold there. keep the fuel tap too.
If you don't take the buy back, odds on someone else here would love it..

Re: What's it worth?
Decisions , decisions!
The insurance are wanting more than I hoped for buying it back, and I keep thinking should I buy a Falco! I think I could probably have it riding again for £700 including buying it back, and just ride it without being precious about it.
The only winners seem to be insurance company, even the though I have a witness the other party are still denying liability 3 months later!

Re: What's it worth?
Wow, another TRX rider with the hots for a Falco.
If you do get one you have to ditch the stock rear shock.
The Sachs unit of an RSV or Tuono of the same era will transform the handling of the Falco.

Re: What's it worth?
Falco = Aprilia SL1000
3/4 fairing & different frame but same stonking 990cc v-twin motor as the aprilia RSVR1000 and Tuono
There is a good example parked in my shed next to the TRX twins.
