Gday,
have just purchased a trx 850 that has been sitting in the shed for 3 years. It starts and rides okay but the rear suspension is shot. Overall in good nick.
Things i need some help on
- recommend a good mechanic or an inmate to do the valve clearances Based in gippsland victoria.
- apart from the fluids is there anything else i should be looking at
open to other suggestions from the trx gurus to put the bike back on the road.

Cheers

Giddday and welcome . A wealth of info here on the forum and plenty of souls willing to throw their 10c worth in on how they have tuned with their TRX's.
Std rear spring rate on the trx is around 0.9 so great for a 75kg rider and usually front springs are a little soft too.
$200-250 will get a full service on your std trx shock as they perform quite well when rebuilt.
It may be worth your while putting a keyster carb kit which will replace the emultion tubes and needle which wear due to the down draught nature of the carbies.
This may sort out a lot of your tuning issues before forking out $500 for a full service.
Per 97 models quite often have issues with inlet valves and deformation of the valve head from around 60,000km so something else to be aware of.
Happy trx ing
