ABBA Stand?

Post by Mav617 » Thu Oct 30, 2014 10:32 pm

Hi,

I have an Abba Stand from my Firestorm days, are they useful on the TRX (wondering if the fitting kit is worth the money) - is there any advantage over a regular paddock stand (able to remove swing=arm/shock etc)?

Thanks,

I think they are a great stand. I would love to have one if they were readily available here in Oz.
Have to admit though, I am a tool whore.
It must be true, I read it on the internet.

I use an ABBA stand on my Tuono having originally bought it for my TRX.

Fitting kit for the Aprilia was about £18.

The only issue with the TRX was that I had to remove the gear linkage at the spline end to enable the insert to locate in the lh end of the swingarm pivot. With rear set plates you may get away with it.

In the end I turned up some short ally fixtures to mount on the upper front footrest mounting plate bolt which I then used for stand location. It did lift the rear higher than usual but was still super stable when working on the bike. Enabled me to remove the swing arm as well.

On track days the ABBA is not so quick to use as a conventional paddock stand and so it sits in the car unless I am changing to wets.

Nice one mate, still got your fitting kit for the TRX and those ally fixtures and fancy some beer tokens in return?

If I did you could have them but they went with the rolling chassis when I broke it. Sorry.

I see you are in Copthorne; used to live in Pound Hill and then Gossops Green, Crawley and spent many years of my mis spent youth charging round the roads of W Sussex.
