I work for British Gas as a thermal insulator. Posh wording for someone that fits loft insulation. Up untill February we were out 12 hours a day working non stop and earning really good money, most of which was bonus based. The scheme we were working on finished and a new one started, but on the new scheme they are mainly concentrating on hard to treat cavity walls, so the lofts have almost dried up. Since February we have rarely worked more than half a day, all the bonus money has gone and we have dropped onto just above minimum wage. Yesterday we were called into a meeting and told the amount of fitters need to be reduced by 105. Roughy 25% of the workforce.
