Re: What is acceptable oil consumption?
Go to your local supercheap auto and get whatever 10/40 semi/synth is on special. They had Shell Helix HX7 for $24 for 5L last week so I grabbed a couple of them. I've changed the oil and filter around every 3 to 4000km and use 500ml to a 1L per change at 120,000 on the clock. I very rarely find any residue metal and the oil is just starting to change colour from blow by.. A few of us lads locally round here got together and bought filters in bulk online and that was another saving if you can organise something also.

Been using it for over 75,000 km and had no issues with no slip or noise.. The good thing is I keep the oil after the change and then use that for the oil change on the car..
new filter cleans it up and I get the full life out of it...

I've been doing the car oil thing too after I read the spec in the user manual for what oil you can use. Like Cobba, never had an issue with slip, unlike Cobba I don't bung it in my car afterwards though - perhaps I should!

Nothing really wrong if the specs on the oil are as they say. And the new car oil filter just cleans up any discolouration from blow by just starting to show so you'll easily get 7 to 10,000km for the car especially if its an old 95 ford festiva
.. It,s got 240,000 on the clock too and doesn't use a drop and it clean on the stick after another 5000k's in the car and I change it at 10

Ok, ive gotten used to the thought that the multi grade additives used in car engine oil would glaze the clutch plates in wet clutch bikes...i have used a Penrite 10-50 Gas product which suggests a motorcycle use as well....
Then Ekoja uses the oil that they run buses with...
Otherwise its the Motul 5100 and then into the cars as well.
If it works, then why not.
