Cheers Kev,

The chain is being adjusted first thing in the morning as it is a little slack. There's also a bit of play in the throttle. How do I adjust that??

:D Theres an adjuster screw on the cable, probably hidden under the front of the fairing but its there, undo lock nut and screw up! it will take the slack out of the cable.

Thanks Guys! To be honest a lot of it was getting used to the way it works. I spent my yoof on strokers and 4t 600's, so was a bit shocked by the lumpy stuff! I'm starting to chuck the thing about with gay abandon now and loving every minute of it!!

Took your time!

I stand by the gayness of my remark however. I've only had the bike since Tuesday and I'm on my fifth tank full already!

:D Tristan, re your q on tappets the early models were known to have problems, but the normal export models should be ok, do a search, the answers are all there somewhere.

Eh??? What you talkin about Willis?? I didn't mention tappets did I?

On a side note. My fuel consumption is shocking. I'm only getting around 110 miles before hitting reserve!!!

I did a search and it would appear that this is down to the emulsion tubes. Where can I get replacements? I've seen the factory-pro site, but is that the only decent option??

TristanTRX wrote:Well, I picked her up on Tuesday. It's in pretty good nick, just a few scabby bolts here and there and a small amount of surface rust on the subframe. But other than that all's well!

The noise it makes is awesome. My neighbours hate me already!!

One thing that's bothering me a bit is that it's very lumpy low down the rev range and quite snatchy at town speeds. Is this down to worn emulsion tubes? I got a dyno print out with the bike that says it had a dynojet kit fitted with 138 mains. Are these not a bit small? Needles have been adjusted to the second notch? It also has scorpion cans.

Will post some decent piccys after the Saturday stripdown.

P.S. Anyone in or around the West Berkshire area??
DJ 138 or mikuni/yamaha 138, they are different

Right then. This morning I set about the bike with an assortment of hammers and screwdrivers. After some mild swearing and then some slightly more offensive expletives. I managed to adjust my chain, steering head races and install my new factory pro emulsion tubes.

Well I'll be frank, the difference is staggering!! I can actually ride through a village now on part throttle! Also my fuel consumption has improved dramatically. Before I was only getting 100 miles before hitting reserve. Today I finished the job and filled up the tank. I then set off to see how far I could get. I gave up after 145 miles as my arse was killing me!!

As soon as the thing runs out of juice I'll post the figure. It surely can't go much further. Can it?

Well on Sunday I went out again to empty the tank following the tube change. The bike managed 175 miles of (ahem cough) spirited riding!! That's near enough 55 mpg. I'm a happy bunny again!!
