Nice statement
Problems.... the TRX has no problems...

Full on the throttle everywhere
Yep, try that on the road with 160... SPLAT!
I think lots of folks are either forgetting, or were too young to know that not so long ago full blown factory superbikes were struggling to make 160hp. Why ANYONE needs that on a street bike escapes me. It's like using a 500cc (2-stroke) MX bike for trials competition.
I must agree Max...
My idea is/was (with the 160bhp), that if I would, I could use the 160bhp when needed. Probably (only) for track use

as I am more of a bottom power kind of guy.
I don't fancy a whole lot of high speed mileage, give me curve after curve

Therefore my first comment, about the full throttle, is based on the 'power' I've got now.

Sounds like you need a BMW 'M' button on your bike!

The only button I ever needed on a bike was the "kill switch"...
I never did enjoy pulling off plug leads.

I want the 100ft/lb torque as i mentioned earlier in the thread. 130bhp would be a side effect

I've read and re-read this thread.
The best thing about the TRX is the fact it's perceived to be an old-fashioned tractor and when you stuff one up the inside of Mr Man-of-the-moment with his K8 GSXR-1000 suddenly the perception instantly changes... to one of disbelief. I've been asked on numerous occasions questions such as: "Sheet, that thing must have 150hp, what've youse done to it?". Answer: Suspension and brakes mods to make it handle and a pair of Staintunes to let it breathe... 80hp is more than enough around every track in Australia except Eastern Creek and Phillip Island. Oh, and good tyres to give me the confidence in the first place!
I guess that's why I love the TRX just as it is and sincerely believe Yamaha should build them with the same engine and same frame AND make them look exactly the same. All I'd update would be the stock exhausts to something smaller, lighter and slightly louder; the front forks to USDs with cartridges rather than rod in oil damping; the front brakes and master cylinder to radial mounted types and a little more padding in the seat.

Oh, and ditch the pillion capability entirely.

putting the fuel tap where you can get at it while on the move would be a big improvement

Ehh, I've got no problem reaching it, even with my WP suspension reservoir in front now

I do have the same experience on track as you describe... so I do have to slightly adjust my 'wants' in the list which I posted earlier I guess

There's no denying that the TRX is a very good track tool if set up correctly and ridden well but ...
A well ridden 600 will blitz it on anything other than tight twisty circuits

Give a little more flexiblity with regard to handlebar height adjustment
A belt drive.
Better pillion accomadation.
A spin on /off oil filter.
Fuel Injection with a brief so that the bike gets a better range
Maybe change the oil system so that it is a wet sump, making the bike a little more user friendly (there seems to be continual confusion with the current dry sump system)
Thats about all, except maybe a clock in the instrument panel
Humm, so you 'll buy a BMW F800 in the near future?
I think it is interesting that a lot of people suggest things that were already common in the days the TRX was actually built: 6-gears, UPSD, weight saving parts, that kind of things. But the TRX is never meant as a high-end, exclusive bike - you can tell just by looking at it. It has only 5 gears, no fuel gauge and fluffy brakes for a reason. It had to be cheap! And easy to produce of course.
Anyway, I agree with all of you and would like to see some more 'gadgets' on the TRX, whether it will be called a TRX900 or a TRX850R.
Although TRX850SP sounds nice too.
