The latest riveting installment. Got the engine painted, and it looks ok to me. Took 2 cans which gave about 6 light coats and was going well until I gave it one last waft then it spunked loads of snotty stuff on one side so I've had to rub it down a bit and touch it up #-o Its supposed to be satin but it looks matt to me so I might even put a clear coat on.

Image

I've got some new shiny casing bolts, I'm going to shine the oil pipes up and I'll probably sand the fins back so it looks a tad retro. Black, chrome and grey rocker and side bits 8) Take your eye of all the runs

Image

I'm doing the swingarm gloss black, I don't want to powder coat that in case I don't like it. Done one before with engine paint and it sticks well.

After the blister debacle I managed to wet sand it down and give it a gloss coat. Its done, I've exhausted me enthusiasm for painting now.

Looking good :D ,can you tell me what brand and shade of paint you used for the cam cover. Better still would be a photo of the paint can.

Ta, in advance.

Cheers chaps.

This is the gloss black paint, reckon you need 2 cans meself.

And this is the cam cover paint. Landed lucky with it really, the match is pretty good.

No one round here could supply me with gloss, all they had was matt and no chance of any greys :(

Looking real good..just a thought, when replacing the chrome caseing bolts, do they need to be set to special torque settings as per manufacture.?

Torque settings, for casing fasteners? Naaaa, nipped up evenly all round to `it don`t leak` tightness suffices.
The cam cover casing would be an exception of course because of the type of gasket, EPDM / rubber.
