Re: looks like my eroupe trip was just not ment to be!
The TDM has a differant crank/timing(180degree), it only has the one coil with a pair of leads going out to the plugs, 99% sure the CDI is TDM specific and it fires both plugs at the same time through the one coil, the cylinder on its squish stroke detonates while the spark in the other is redundant. For this reason you'd be wasting your time fitting it.brockzila wrote:thanks for the help boys
can any one answer the tdm mkii cdi in the trx ii cant see why it wont work
I'm looking to see if I can source the right part locally, I can see it looks like you may have a result but I'll keep trying until you post you've got it sorted....
Don't quit yet you still have 72 hours, and thats time enough!!!
Good luck!!!

Post 95 TDMs have a 270 crank - essentially the same engine as the TRXjimmiboy wrote:The TDM has a differant crank/timing(180degree), it only has the one coil with a pair of leads going out to the plugs, 99% sure the CDI is TDM specific and it fires both plugs at the same time through the one coil, the cylinder on its squish stroke detonates while the spark in the other is redundant. Re: looks like my eroupe trip was just not ment to be!
im going to beerfest 100%.
i work for a tour company as a rep for the big festavils. the crew bus leaves on tuesday about 11am so if the bike is not ready then i have to be on that, hence the rush to find parts as i really do not want to be on the bus. we have 1600 punters for 1st weekend so its going to hectic and verry verrry drunken. once i am there i know if i do not have the bike then i will be trapped. i have to stay in the camp site, and with no means of transport i will only be able to go where the coachs take the punters or to the shops to buy supplys, and of course to the beer halls. I get a couple of days off in the 4 weeks i am there to see my olds who are over from home, and then i get half days off after that, so will be hoping to get in some short blasts around munich and down to the alps, and if i can, up to the ring. Im going to need it to keep some level of sanity as the camp site is feral it just a 24hour party.
Pete i will be able to nick you a stien but the tshirt i will have to look in to on the last day as i may be able to get one cheap.(i have to try and save as much as i can for the tour home as that is all dependent on cash left after the beer halls.)
Fingers crossed

If it's the same 270 degree crank then yes. If the TDM has a 180 crank then no.steve speed wrote:if a tdm850 cdi is the same

Re: looks like my eroupe trip was just not ment to be!
just cause the crank is the same it dont mean the cdi is the same.
there are so many more things to think.
it may have a different wiring plugs on it, extra wires for the different gauge cluster, and may run different timing ect. , different mounting, it may work but in limp mode
you can get a sr20 in a primera with 80 or so ponys, change the computer to the limited edition model and it goes up to aproxx 100.
these are the things im thinking about.
i also dont have time to mess around.

Re: looks like my eroupe trip was just not ment to be!
just picked it up.
its alive

but its still sick.
when its on the gas, its on, its picking the front wheel again, its great.
BUT when its not on its running real rough and still missing,
so am about to head home and change the plugs, trim the leads down and refit them to the coils and caps, there is not to much more i can think of, im a bit miffed about it and dont realy want to ride it like this so if its not running 100% then im still on the bus
