classic trx
i hope to buy a mint low mileage trx soon to keep as a sunday ride/classic investment. is there any version more desirable/rarer than the others or are they pretty much all the same? obviously, a standard model would be best, which judging by what i've seen on here, will be difficult to find! some cracking bikes on here though.

Re: classic trx
AFAIK, IIRC, there was only ever 1 standard model made of the TRX, no special editions/tunes/tricked models. I certainly don't recall there ever being any factory made specials in the UK market. Assuming you're in the UK of course.
Most bikes around now will probably have been modded by owners, though there are some very nice standard bikes out there if you have a good look around. When I was looking for one, there were a few dealers out there with nice looking standard-ish, though high milage, bikes, but they were asking premium prices (as most dealers seem to be doing these days for any 2nd hand bike!). Take a look on here and on eBay (private sales), and you should be able to find something in your price range and that meets your requirements. Though with an older bike, you might have to compromise in some aspects/requirements. Take a chance to ride one before you buy as well, very different to most other bikes, especially if you're used to riding more modern, mutli-cylinder bikes.
I've only had mine about a month, and still getting used to it. Very different from my other bike, but just as much fun to ride.
Not sure about "classic investment", but as a sunday ride/grin inducing toy, they're well worth it.
Good luck in your search!

Re: classic trx
thanks. i'll keep looking. i use my fazer 600 as a thrasharound. my only concern is the riding position as i'm 52 and aching a bit. lifting the bars slightly would help i suppose, but i've never actually ridden one except sit on one. some mods would be ok, such as blue spots and loud pipes.

I have, (mostly, teeth and hair!) and the original is the best (modded of course.)

Re: classic trx
Red and Black is the best colour and original is even better... mine does have a few mods... but nothing that cant be put back the exhausts are more practical with the removable baffles...and the blue spots and braided hoses.. are an improvement. when you buy mine you can have the original calipers, and hoses, and exhausts if you want... ohh and the original footpegs... no one ever goes on the back of me so i took them off

anyway heres a pic of my almost original.... 1 owner for the past 10 / 11 years ME !!!!!
now on 12,200 miles...

Re: classic trx
I don't think the TRX changed but the TDM certainly changed the carbs/gearbox ratios in '99. In fact, the post '99 emulsion tubes on the TDM can't be changed - can someone verify by part numbers that the TRX carbs changed then too???cal wrote:@ Dandywarhol viewtopic.php?f=37&t=7934&p=81655
