Okay call me a doofus, Ive been spannering heavy machinery for over 20 years but i can't figure out how to get the tank up/air filter out.
My only excuse is that it's a tuesday and I'm sober.

Re: stoopid question
G'day Daniel. This job is best done with less than half a tank of fuel. First remove the riders seat. The tank is secured by two fasteners at the front ,just above the coils. Undo those (one each side) Next undo the fuel line on the right hand side rear of the tank. Make sure the fuel tap is turned to on and not prime. I use long nose pliers to push the clip up the hose and then the hose can be levered off the fuel pump. You can then pivot the tank up on the rear mount. Keep an eye on the hoses still attached ,you should have to slide them back as the tank comes up. Don't forget to readjust them when the tank goes down as a kink in the vacuum lines can stop the bike from running. OK, the air filter comes out from the top/front of the airbox, too easy.
Hope this helps.

Re: stoopid question
Thanks for that Kev, I was looking for a simple catch/release like my Monster had. is there a filter anywhere?.I wonder is it worth making that fuel line longer and into a loop.
Decided to have a look at the plugs while I was there, Man is that a fiddle!.
How do you blokes do it? I loosened the radiator to get my big paws in there, patience is a virtue!
Haven't got my hands on a shop/owners manual yet so I'm fishing for info,do these things have an oil light, and what is the tps there for, ignition advance? one more, what is normal operating temp
thanks again
Dan.

Re: stoopid question
There is no inline filter just the screen on the tap internals. Fuel line is a bit of a pain as it's a different size each end. For the plugs , undo the 4 radiator mounts and take the return hose off near the cap and the radiator will hang forward enough to get at the plugs. My tip would be to fit iridium plugs as you don't need to change them as often. Temp will sit at between 65-75 in traffic and the fan kicks in at 100+. If you look in the downloads section theres a beaut manual for you to look at which will explain all. TPS advances and retards the spark at certain revs. Oil light, you don't want that one coming on (it's on the dash). Oil level neglect is the biggest killer of the TRX. If you use the search feature you will see that it's a bit of technique involved in getting the level right. Some rex's use about a litre every 1000 kms.

Re: stoopid question
Oil light? On a TRX? Are you sure?
tbh I find it easier removing the tank completely - one more bolt and 2 hose connections - 3 if you disconnect the drain line instead of taking it with the tank. Leave the fuel hose on the tank - it's easier to get it on and off the pump end.

Re: stoopid question
Getting at the plugs - I did this for the first time a couple of nights ago. What a total bitch of a job! I also found that taking the fairing off the bike really helped. It comes off in 2 mins so no biggie there.
