What is a standard rear shock ?
Does the TRX have different types of standard rear shock , mine looks different to others ive seen on e bay or in my Haynes manual , its not an Ohlins or Wilbers for example and sort of looks factory fitted , but has a blue spring and different rebound adjuster on the shock body , it still has the remote reservoir and adjuster though ! Theres no manufacturers name anywhere I can see to identify it , but its still fitted to the bike so I may see better if and when I take it off.

Sounds like an aftermarket one, chuck up a pic if you can. Standard one has a yellow spring with gold remote reservoir.

Could be anything, spring colour just often reflects a manufacturers spring rate. A pic would help.
It must be true, I read it on the internet.

That's weird, the shock's definitely not original, but the remote reservoir appears to be...

+1^
Is the remote reservoir actually connected to the shock?
It looks like an aftermarket shock with no compression adjuster.

Re: What is a standard rear shock ?
After a bit of cleaning and research it turns out its an EMC shock from France , they sound like they are pitched somewhere between an Ohlins and a Hagon in terms of price. The adjuster at the top does both rebound and compression and they are fully rebuildable , the old reservoir is redundant , I will remove it soon. A nice surprise really !
