Needle Jet Question

Post by Con Rod » Wed Dec 28, 2011 2:00 pm

HI, I got the cleaning up my carbs today and was setting everything to factory settings per the manual but when I got to the needle jets I found something unusual.

The needles are marked 5EI85, which matches up the the manual but the manual says 2/5. Now the needle I have only has 3 slots so I was wondering is this normal, should I set the needles to 2/3??

Cheers Phuk, but are you sayinh that 2 of 3 is where it should be or that you would start on 2 of 3 for tuning?

Does anyone know if the stock needle has 3 or 5 slots?

The middle is stock IIRC. Thinking back, pretty sure all had 3 slots not 5.

And by strating in the middle, I mean you can tweak the mixture by raising or lowering the needle a bit if its not right
