Is it possible to stop the damper rod spinning using a breaker bar with one or more extenders and a relevant sized allen headed socket on the end?
I want to put my fzr600r fork lowers on the rest of the TRX forks to get the 'adjustable' damping.
If so does anybody know wich sized allen headed sockets to use?
Thanks

I had this problem with my forks, I modified a flat wood drill bit so it fitted in the grooves in the top of the damper.
It had a hex end so I used 3 extension bars and a socket to hold it in place, fiddly but it worked.
You can sometimes shock the allen bolt undone with an allen key and rubber mallet if the forks are still together.
The drill bit was about 29mm across it's flat.

I used a high torque air gun - a high torque electric drill could do it too.............................

I used a solid steel bar & welded tiny blobs all the way around the end to mate up with the notches in the rod. Excessive perhaps but it was free & it worked.

I used a nut that measured 27 mm from one flat to the opposite flat ., welded to a long enough rod with a tee handle . Feel it into the damping rod . I also use a piece of 50mm electrical conduit ( orange ) to tap the fork seals into place and the syringe with a piece of plastic tube to the end to get my fork oil heights the same

excellent idea using the syringe in a fixed position Bob.

so the damper rod is 27mm?
Bought a load of extenders for (10", 5" and 3") will look to get a 27mm allen socket as well.
Would he damper rods be the same 27mm in the FZR forks?

The nut I used is 27mm across its face ,what size the damping opening is I don't know . I don't know what a 27mm allen socket is

Allen socket=hexagon key that`ll fit in a 3/8" or 1/2" socket bar/extension.
